Cheers to all my rainbow friends and family! Happy Pride :) In tribute to you all, here's a short story I wrote for The Golden Women's Resource Centre's Women & Art book.
Every story begins with a spark, deep in one's imagination, where the subconscious mind mingles with reality. The spark for this story originated in a quaint restaurant in Golden BC, as a friend told me about a door that had been returned to her by an old lover, re-igniting a love never forgotten. Inspired by my love for questioning society and the assumptions we make, The Door lures you in, tickles your senses - will maybe even make you blush - then ends with a twist. Although this story is almost entirely fictitious, I wrote it in support of my lovely daughter who pridefully came out as bi in high school and who is the strongest woman I know.
